'Orange Is the New Black' season 4 spoilers: Cast members tease Piper's downfall, Red's 'edgy' new relationship, Pennsatucky's struggles

Only a couple of weeks stand between the new season of the Emmy-winning comedy-drama "Orange Is the New Black" ("OINTB" and its hordes of fans. Come June, the prison series will be one of the many new shows and films to hit Netflix.

The upcoming fourth season of "OINTB" will consist of 13 episodes and will be available in its entirety on Friday, June 17. The popular series, a Netflix original, stars Taylor Schilling (Piper), Taryn Manning (Pennsatucky), Laura Prepon (Alex), Uzo Aduba (Crazy Eyes), Laverne Cox (Sophia), and Kate Mulgrew (Red).

While a trailer for the new season was released earlier this month, the show's cast recently fueled interest in season 4 when they dropped some major clues about what fans can expect when the Netflix series returns.

Speaking during a panel at the Paley Center in Los Angeles on Thursday, May 26, several members of the "OITNB" cast dished about the main events and story arcs in season 4.

According to Schilling, her character, Piper, will be going over-the-top with her villainous ways, which could possibly lead to her downfall.

"I think she took that and she ran with it," the actress told Entertainment Weekly about Piper's transformation into a ruthless antagonist. "I don't know if it's necessarily helping her anymore. She takes things to extremes and tends to run herself into the ground."

Speaking to E! News, Mulgrew talked about her character's "interesting" relationship with Michael Harney's Healy. According to the actress, Red and Healy will form a "deep friendship."

"It's an edgy kind of thing and for me to put too fine a point on it would be a mistake," she teased.

Meanwhile, Pennsatucky, whose sad backstory was unveiled in season 3, will have to face her demons and try to move forward in the new season. According to Manning, who plays Pennsatucky, the character has been blocking out her past.

"But I think some of her friends, they sort of wake up her and shake her up, and it's up to her about how she feels about it," she told EW.

The fourth season of "Orange Is the New Black" will be available on Friday, June 17, on Netflix.
