"Outlander" season 3 promises a bigger comeback as the story will cover an epic sea voyage, but fans will have to wait a few more months before the time-traveling drama returns to the small screen.`

Aside from the stunning visual effects next season, fans are also eagerly waiting for the introduction of a certain character named Lord John Grey. For the uninitiated, John was first introduced in season 2 as a British teen who was caught while attempting to attack Jamie and his men. In Diana Gabaldon's "Voyager" which will be the next season's source material, John will reappear as a grown man. During the 20 years of being separated from Claire, Jamie ends up in Ardsmuir Prison where he meets John, who turns out to be the governor of the facility. Upon discovering that Jamie is the man he tried to kill years ago, John becomes friends with the redheaded inmate.

According to TV Line, John is also a "closeted gay man" who will develop feelings for Jamie, but the latter already made it clear that he does not feel the same. He has his own line of books but executive producer Ronald Moore explained that the character's story arc for this season will only include the one in "Voyager." "We're not averse to it," he said. "We just aren't really bringing in the other novels at this point."

On another note, best-selling author George R. R. Martin recently shared his disappointment after the Starz series was snubbed in the recent Emmy Awards nominations. Unfortunately, the drama only received two nominations for production design and costume, and Martin believes that the actors should have been recognized. "'Outlander' was robbed," Martin posted on his LiveJournal comments section. "All three leads were amazing ... especially Tobias Menzies in his double role as Frank and Black Jack."

"Outlander" season 3 is expected to premiere next year, but the network has yet to announce a definitive release date.
