The fun didn't stop there as Capcom also opened a game demo titled "The Beginning Hour." Through the demo, fans were able to have a taste of the thrill and fear that Capcom promised to bring back ever since they announced "Resident Evil 7." They have been meaning to go back to the franchise's survival horror roots and it seems like they have followed through.

It's been a while already since the demo opened and even though fans are aware that none of it will be part of the full sequel, many still took the time to check out all the secrets and hidden, unsolved mysteries. One particular mystery that has caused a social media havoc among gamers is the dummy finger.

According to Twinfinite, all the other mysteries in the demo have been solved except for the dummy finger. Some believe that it has no purpose while some think that Capcom put it there for a reason. And it turns out that it does have an underlying mystery with it. YouTube personality and fighting game community member Maximilian Dood revealed in a tweet that a Capcom rep informed him that the dummy finger is not just there as a decoy.

This led several to come up with theories on the possible purpose of the finger. One theory proposed the finger has a key inside it. Another says that it can be placed in the inventory and if examined, it will rotate and point to a direction. So far, no one has obtained the answer to it yet. Fans will have to watch out for updates or threads to the possible answer of the mystery.

"Resident Evil 7" will be released on Jan. 24, 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
