There have been a lot of buzz lately about the "Resident Evil" franchise. New reports are saying that the upcoming "Resident Evil 7" could have a release date in March 2017; however, fans will be treated as the current "Resident Evil 5" will be launched on June 28, according to a report by Engadget.

Capcom is currently celebrating the 20th anniversary of the third-person shooter video game franchise by rolling out some of its classic installments to newer consoles. In March of this year, the company has also released "Resident Evil 6." With the scheduled rollout of "Resident Evil 5" this month on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, many fans are expecting the company to introduce the new installment of the series at the Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 2016, which will start on June 14 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

According to GameNGuide, Capcom is said to showcase new game titles in 2016. The publication said that one of the games to be introduced is the much-anticipated "Resident Evil 7." Although the company has yet to confirm these reports, many fans are saying that the game will be the highlight of the company at the upcoming E3 event.

In a tweet by Dr. Serkan Toto, the Kantan Games' CEO revealed that Capcom is definitely working on "Resident Evil 7."

"About Resident Evil 7: Yes, it's in development. The entire game will go back to RE's horror roots and (essentially) be a clean slate," Toto wrote on his Twitter account.

It has previously been reported that Capcom is planning to deliver classic gameplay for the upcoming seventh installment of the game. Many fans are saying that "Resident Evil" has lost its horror roots, following the release of "Resident Evil 5" and "Resident Evil 6."

As of the moment, fans will have to wait for the company to officially launch "Resident Evil 7."
