It was reported earlier than "Scandal" lead star Kerry Washington is expecting her second child this year, and although her character Olivia Pope does not appear to be fit, physically and emotionally, to raise a child of her own in the present story, there are speculations that the actress' pregnancy will be written on Season 6's plot.

Movie News Guide reported the possibility of Washington's character to become pregnant as well in the upcoming sixth season of the hit drama TV series, although it appears that the possibility is quite slim.

Washington said in an interview with E! News that the writers of "Scandal" are not thinking of incorporating her pregnancy into the show. Instead, the team may just hide the signs of the actress' pregnancy while shooting the scenes for Season 6.

"As far as I know, we're going to be hiding things," Washington revealed at the Sag-Aftra Foundation Golf Classic. "But stay tuned!"

It was already reported early last month that Washington and husband Nnamdi Asomugha will be having their second child. While some people might think that Washington's pregnancy will affect the show in a big way, her first pregnancy actually coincided with the later part of "Scandal" Season 3. The production team was successful in hiding Washington's baby bump, although it was already anticipated that the show's lead character, Olivia, would have a limited appearance. That is why the original run of Season 3 was cut short in spite of the high ratings.

Washington and Asomugha had their first daughter named Isabella in April 2014. The first pregnancy could not have posed any troubles back then since it happened around the end of the Season 3 production, and this might also be the case with Washington's second pregnancy. As TV Line reported, the premiere of "Scandal" Season 3 will be pushed back to mid-season, and the episodes will be cut short to 16 episodes instead of 22.
