'Scorpion' season 3 spoilers: What happens to Walter and Paige's love story? EPs tease how the loose ends will be tied next season

The second season of "Scorpion" recently ended, and it was nothing short of exciting and emotional. The finale concluded with some loose ends, as well as major shockers which surely made fans wanting for more.

Episode 24 featured Toby (Eddie Kaye Thomas) as he got down on one knee as he proposed to Happy (Jadyn Wong) who unfortunately turned him down. Happy then revealed that she has been married to someone before, which made everyone curious as to who her ex-husband is. She immediately left the Scorpion headquarters without giving more details on her shocking revelation. Meanwhile, Walter (Elyes Gabel) finally mustered up the courage to confess his love for Paige (Katharine McPhee). Paige went on a weekend vacation with Tim Armstrong (Scott Porter), leaving Walter regretting his decision to let Paige go to the trip.

TVLine caught up with "Scorpion" showrunners Nick Wootton and Nick Santora where they discussed how the finale's surprising turn of events will affect season 3. "They're going to be affected very much so," Wootton stated. "This is certainly going to reverberate through the entire team. It's our kicking-off point for the next season, for the emotional stories. How is this going to play out? Who is she married to? How did that happen? Where is that person? All of these things are going to be fodder for next season."

Santora agrees that it will be difficult for the characters to process recent events, but they will eventually get there. "The resolution of it, and how it affects the team, will go on for a while," he admitted. "At the end of the day, Scorpion is a fun show. It's made that way for a reason, and it's a feel-good show. I wouldn't expect [Toby and Happy] to be struck by lightning in any upcoming episodes, ending their relationship. [Laughs] Eventually, these characters and these relationships are all going to get where they need to be. It's just going to be hard."
