Crime drama series "Shades of Blue" has been renewed for a second season, but there are rumors that the show has to give way to lead actress Jennifer Lopez's busy schedule.

According to a report by Crossmap, NBC confirmed that the second season will have 13 episodes only, contrary to the expected full season order. The show's pilot season received mostly positive feedback, and it even gave the network's most-viewed Thursday premiere in seven years as noted by The Wrap. Rumor has it that Lopez's very tight schedule might be the reason why the show only has a few episodes. After all, the singer has a lot on her plate as she is currently in Las Vegas for a concert residency titled "All I Have." Apart from her former full-time job as a judge on the recently concluded "American Idol," Lopez also keeps herself busy by being an executive producer for popular drama series "The Fosters."

Lopez plays the role of Harlee Santos, a police detective and a single mom to her only daughter Cristina (Sarah Jeffery). Additionally, she serves as an undercover FBI agent to investigate on her own squad. As far as spoilers go, it is still unclear as to how to plot will unfold after Detective Harlee Santos (Jennifer Lopez) killed her former husband Miguel Zepeda (Antonio Jaramillo) in the finale episode. Viewers are left clueless as to how Harlee will dispose of the body. On another note, Lieutenant Matt Wozniak (Ray Liotta) appeared to have been picked up by the FBI. The first episode showed that the FBI tapped Harlee to take down her own boss Wozniak, so his presence poses a threat to her.

NBC has yet to announce a definitive premiere date for "Shades of Blue," but the show is expected to be back sometime this year.
