'Spider-Man: Homecoming' release date news 2016: Set photos show the new Spidey suit in all its glory

Shooting of "Spider-Man: Homecoming" is currently undergoing in Atlanta, and there are new set photos (and a video) of Tom Holland's new take on everybody's favorite wall-crawler.

"Spider-Man: Homecoming" is set to hit theaters in July 2017 | Marvel

Comicbookmovie.com was able to gather a good amount of set photos of the production, in a scene that has Spider-Man taking down a thug in the streets. A video posted on Twitter has Spidey swooping down on a running man and the man gets hauled up by a wire. By the looks of it, it seems that the man could have been punched really hard, or the scene was supposed to depict him being slung up by webs.

More set photos give audiences a better look at the suit; it is unclear, however, whether the person wearing the suit is Holland himself or a stuntman. This version of the suit seems to have drastic changes from the comic book version of Spider-Man, second only to the Spidey suit from "The Amazing Spider-Man" starring Andrew Garfield back in 2012. The Tobey Maguire suit and the suit from "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" were very identical to the comic book suit.

Holland's suit, however, opts for a smaller spider logo on its chest, and the classic round spider on the back, which harkens back to Spider-Man's first appearance in Amazing Fantasy #15 back in 1962; still no "web wings" under the arms though. Its web-shooters are clearly visible as well, and there is what looks like to be a belt housing refills of the web material, a design choice that was never in the past Spider-Man suits.

"Spider-Man: Homecoming" is set to come out July 7, 2017, and it stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, and Michael Keaton as The Vulture.
