Tom Holland as Spider-Man in "Captain America: Civil War" | Marvel Studios

"Spider-Man: Homecoming" star Jona Xiao recently sat down with Talk Nerdy with Us to discuss the highly-anticipated film, assuring fans that they will love Spidey's move to Marvel Studios.

Xiao kept her cards close to her chest with regards to her character, which is still being kept under wraps. However, she assured that comic fanatics will particularly love "Spider-Man: Homecoming."

"Because Marvel is going to be the one helping produce this time around, it's very much true to canon in terms of the depiction of Spider-Man, and it's his coming-of-age story when he's a teenager," the actress explained.

"So when he's coming into his powers and how he's dealing with the typical things a teenager deals with in high school, but also having these superpowers," she added.

Xiao believes that "Spider-Man: Homecoming" is loyal to its source material, fans will "see some things they expect to see" on top of some "twists and turns and surprises" by Marvel.

This should get fans excited about the film, which will be the second appearance of the wallcrawler to be played by Tom Holland in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), but his first standalone outing.

Andrew Garfield, who was the second actor to play the character on the big screen when it was still under Sony alone, said in a Fandango interview that he is excited.

He is "stoked" mostly about the idea of Spider-Man being handled by Marvel now. "I think that's a really awesome move," adding that he himself was advocating for such when he was first offered the role

He also sent some love to director Jon Watts and to Holland himself, who he believes will make a great Spider-Man and Peter Parker, describing him as "a very emotional, truthful, funny, physical actor."

Filming for "Spider-Man: Homecoming" is already complete. A sequel for it was shortly announced, which means that fans will be seeing more of Spider-Man on the big screen in the years to come.

"Spider-Man: Homecoming" hits the cinemas on Jul 7, 2017.
