American fantasy horror television series "Supernatural" season 11 has come to an end. Fans of the long-running show are once again left with cliffhanger questions including what will happen next to the brothers Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) and Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki) in their mission of dealing with evil spirits and saving the world. Fortunately, The CW network has renewed the show for another season already so fans can expect to catch more adventures from the heroes.

However, in a report by TVLine, it stated that there will be some major changes coming to the series. Showrunner Jeremy Carver will be leaving his position after season 11 to venture into The CW's new thriller titled "Frequency."

Carver started out as a writer for the show in season 3. He left in season 5 to work for another project but returned in season 8 as a showrunner. As noted by Inquisitr, Carver has done a lot for "Supernatural" since then including bringing it back to the top of its game. Thus, it's foreseen that big changes are coming with new showrunners stepping in.

The BitBag reported that Robert Singer and Andrew Dabb will be running the show for season 12. They are no newcomers in the series though as Singer has been a director and writer while Dabb worked as a story editor and co-executive producer.

There's no word yet on what the duo's new team leadership would look like for season 12 but speculations say that "Supernatural" will head to a new direction and may be getting some fresh storylines, although it's a big question on what other villain could be bigger than The Darkness. Fans will have to stay tuned then.

As for the premiere date of "Supernatural" season 12, CW has not announced a specific date yet but the network did tease that it will be returning to the small screen later in fall this year and will have a new timeslot. From its current Wednesday timeslot at 9 p.m. ET, it will be moved to Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET after "DC's Legends of Tomorrow."
