After an intense cat-and-mouse game, Red (James Spader) will seek help from a significant character who may have knowledge on Alexander Kirk's (Ulrich Thomsen) next move in the upcoming episode of "The Blacklist" season 4.

Thursday's premiere titled "Esteban" featured an action-packed chase as Red and Mr. Kaplan (Susan Blommaert) tried to save Liz from Kirk. Tom (Ryan Eggold), who was captured with Agnes by Kirk's men back in the season 3 finale, managed to escape by riding a stolen pick up after shooting his captor. Red and Mr. Kaplan were able to save Agnes but before they could even flee the scene, another car rammed into their vehicle. While Red was unconscious after the incident, Mr. Kaplan was barely lucid as she watched Kirk's men take Agnes away.

Tensions will continue to run high in the second episode titled "Mato" as Red continues to hunt down his nemesis. Although the official synopsis does not give away too much, it indicates that one character will have an important role in the search for Liz and Agnes. According to the episode summary, Red will enlist Tom along with the Task Force to help find a notorious bounty hunter who may have an idea on Kirk's next move. Liz, on the other hand, will continue to struggle in deciding if Kirk—who claims to be her biological father â€” should be trusted or not.

As previously reported, Lotte Verbeek is set to reprise her role as Liz's mother Katarina Rostova. Executive producer Jon Bokemkamp recently revealed in a sit-down interview that Katarina will help unravel a lot of mysteries in Liz's life. "She's [Liz] going to be able to access truths that are only available through Katarina Rostova, so we're going to continue to fill that character out," he told Entertainment Weekly, "and we're going to continue to get a better understanding of who she is, was, and what role she may play for Liz. It's a really interesting coloring for the show in filling out answers."

The fourth season of "The Blacklist" airs every Thursday night at 10 p.m. EST on NBC.
