'The Elder Scrolls 6' release date news 2016: Bethesda to do 'Skyrim' remastered edition instead of new sequel?

Fans of the highly popular "Elder Scrolls" franchise have been demanding for a new installment from Bethesda, given the huge commercial and critical success of the developer's recent game title, "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim." People believe that Bethesda will say something about the anticipated game sequel at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 that will run from June 14 to 16. Unfortunately, if the rumors are anything to go by, the game studio may not present "The Elder Scrolls VI" during the event, and will instead unveil the remastered version of the "Skyrim" video game.

Many fans at the Metro UK have discussed the possibility of Bethesda working on "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" remaster. If this plan comes into fruition, "Skyrim" will now adapt the latest game graphics and features of today's new generation of home consoles, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. "Skyrim" was released almost four years ago in PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms.

However, doing a "Skyrim" remaster will require a lot of time and effort, and it will be impossible for Bethesda to develop a whole new video game, be it "The Elder Scrolls 6" or any other future titles. Metro UK also noted that the rumored remastered version of "Skyrim" being released in the future is not yet confirmed by Bethesda and there is not one proof to support this.

According to Yibada, "The Elder Scrolls VI" may be released sometime in 2019, meaning that there is enough time for Bethesda to do the remastered version of "Skyrim" and the latter's release date may not be too far from now. Aside from "Skyrim" remaster, another project that is causing delay in the production of "The Elder Scrolls VI" is the newly released "The Elder Scrolls: Online," and Bethesda would not risk making its latest game project stale by launching a new sequel.

The rumor of "Elder Scrolls VI" sparked when Bethesda's vice president for public relations and marketing Pete Hines said in an interview with The Telegraph that the video game is actually under development by their team. Moreover, he referred to the next "Elder Scrolls" sequel as "Skyrim 2," hinting that "The Elder Scrolls VI" still have something to do with the previous game title.

"It's rare to have franchises like the ones we have and to have people joking about 'when is Skyrim 2 coming out?' The reason they say that is because generally speaking that's what you'd be getting with another publisher in charge. They'd be spitting out a Skyrim 2 the year after or two years later. That's just not how we view it. We're not the sort of publisher that focuses on 'what's our 25 titles for 2015,'" Hines stated.
