There are rumors circulating all over the internet that the company has plans on launching the title at the Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 in June 2016. The original action survival horror game was released in June 2013 and many fans are excited to finally hear some official details from Naughty Dog with regard to its specific rollout.

Games Radar reported that although Neil Druckmann, creative director from Naughty Dog, has previously provided a timeline for the sequel, the company has yet to provide any official release date. Druckmann revealed that during the development of "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End," the team had already started to pile up some ideas for the next installment of "The Last of Us."

"Before my partner, Bruce [Straley] and I, my directing partner, came on to Uncharted 4 we were working on prototypes for different ideas within The Last of Us universe," Druckmann explained.

"Our next focus is the single player [Uncharted 4] DLC and then, once we have enough resources, resurrect all those prototypes; see where we're at, see where the teams at, what they're excited for and go from there," the creative director added.

Meanwhile, speculations have surrounded the development of the next installment as rumors started to circulate that the next title might be a prequel. According to reports, the prequel to the original game will be titled, "Days Gone." It will be interesting how the game will turn out if the rumors prove to be true.
