Hit medical drama "The Night Shift" had a successful run during its first two seasons, and the much-awaited season 3 recently kicked off with a whole new lineup of episodes sure to delight fans.

To recap, last week's episode featured Jordan still working with TC after their break-up. Shannon Rivera (Tanaya Beatty) is the team's newest recruit, but she made an out-of-the-ordinary first impression to all the hospital staff. Drew Allister was deployed overseas along with Syd Jennings (guest star Jennifer Beals), and they are compelled to tend to a pregnant patient who happens to be the wife of an Afghan criminal.

This week's episode titled "The Thing with Feathers" will see the team work desperately to save a young car accident victim's life. As noted in the official synopsis, TC (Eoin Macken) and Scott (Scott Wolf) are tasked to do what they can to save a young boy and his mother after being involved in a fatal car accident. While the boy fights for his life, the team discovers more about family dynamics. Drew (Brendan Fehr) and Syd (Jennifer Beals) are still in Afghanistan dealing with the aftermath of gunshots fired in the operating room.

Portraying the role of a trauma doctor in the show, actor Scott Wolf is well aware that his fictional character can't compare to the what the real-life professionals go through. However, he stressed that it's very important to for the storyline to get things right. "Comparing the two is silly, but we're creating a fictional world representing this work that actually happens," Wolf told New York Post. "It's extremely important [that] the people who really do this work could watch and feel we're in our own way honoring the work they all do. The last thing that any of us wants is for a doctor or nurse to watch the show and think, 'That's not how it goes at all.'"

Keep tuning in for all-new episodes of "The Night Shift" season 3 which airs every Wednesday night at 10 p.m. EST on NBC.
