'The Originals' season 4 spoilers news: Supernaturals go up against common villain? Cami could return; series ending after season 4?

There will be a five-year time jump when "The Originals" returns to the small screens for its fourth season, and according to speculations, Klaus Mikaelson will wake up an even monstrous vampire than he was before the Tunde Blade rendered him comatose.

However, series creator Michael Narducci teased that when Klaus (Joseph Morgan) wakes up from his pain-induced coma, the five years of torment he's gone through in the wake of losing his one great love, Cami (Leah Pipes), will keep himself occupied with his best escape therapy: painting.

"Maybe someone is going to decide that there's a big problem in the world and Klaus Mikaelson is the only person that can help us deal with it," Movie News Guide quotes Narducci as saying.

In season 3, Klaus' sire Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) questioned why it has to be Klaus holding the reins all the time. Apparently, season 4 will answer that in the form of a threat that will be beyond Marcel's control.

It looks like when Klaus wakes up from the coma, and with his siblings still trapped in dreamscape, he will have to rely on other people to fight off the threat. Will Cami be one of these people?

Cami is already dead, but in the world of supernaturals, even those who have been dead for thousands of years can still come back to life. Fans of the show know that Cami was heir to a room full of weapons and secrets that may be used against supernatural creatures, so maybe the showrunners are just keeping mum about Cami's return. Still, this speculation should be taken with a grain of salt.

Meanwhile, news of the cancellation of "The Vampire Diaries," the series that spawned "The Originals," has fans worrying over the fate of the series. Some feel the fourth season of "The Originals" will serve as the series finale, but a recent interview with The CW executive Mark Pedowitz should be enough to allay fans' fears.

"I hope it lives very well on its own," he said, according to Deadline. "I'm hopeful that we will see a fifth year."

"The Originals" season 4 is expected to premiere midseason 2017 on The CW.
