"The Walking Dead" executive producer and "Walking Dead" comics creator Robert Kirkman has teased the much-anticipated seventh season of the AMC series, saying that new main villain Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) will be a "constant" and "ever-present" threat in it.

In a recent interview with Uproxx, the "Walking Dead" boss fielded questions about the controversial season 6 finale cliffhanger and promised a great season 7.

According to Kirkman, one of the negative side effects of the season 6 finale is that it has taken away from the introduction of Negan. As Kirkman explained, because of this, viewers will be seeing "stuff like that" in almost every episode of the new season.

"Not necessarily cliffhangers," Kirkman clarified. "I don't want to worry people, but Negan is going to be an ever-present, constant threat that is going to change everything moving forward."

"And maybe I've said things like that before, but I promise you, Negan is going to be different," he added. "Season seven is going to be really cool."

With the climactic season 6 finale being one of the most talked-about television series topics this summer, it is no wonder that Kirkman is asked about it practically everywhere he goes.

In another interview, Kirkman spoke about the fans who were frustrated and angered by the major questions left dangling at the end of the season 6 finale, saying, "That's what a cliffhanger is."

"I'll probably get crucified for this," he told Rolling Stone, "but I feel like there's a culture of instant gratification now: Netflix, social media, everything is on demand at all times."

"Nothing is withheld," he said. As Kirkman explained, it's just not feasible to make an episode of a TV series for every week of an entire year. And if a TV show can come up with something that will have people talking about it in the gap between seasons, then that's great.

"The Walking Dead" returns for its seventh season in October on AMC.
