'Tokyo Ghoul' season 3 release date delay news: Delayed to March 2017

The premiere of "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 will be delayed to 2017, according to the latest reports about the anime's development. It's been more than a year since the second season of the beloved anime aired.

The hitch was reportedly due to lack of material to work with. Until enough content is available, production will not push through. Until then, fans will have to wait patiently to know what's up ahead.

The "Tokyo Ghoul" manga created by Sui Ishida is only a few chapters ahead of what has been covered in the first and second season of the anime. This is why the production is on ice for now.

Interestingly, the first seasons of "Tokyo Ghoul" have been deemed very different from the popular manga. Since then, fans expected season 3 to go the same route, prompting them to petition for a reboot.

Fans have been taking to the web to call Studio Pierrot and Funimation's attention to reboot the anime instead of creating "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3. Despite majority of fans up for it, the people in charge of the series haven't shown their willingness to succumb to what their viewers want.

Fans of the anime who also happens to be readers of Ishida's work are not at all happy that the "Tokyo Ghoul" anime hasn't been faithful to its source material.

However, with the studios awaiting new chapters from the manga, "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 might not wander off story-wise like the two seasons did. Sadly, the silence of both Studio Pierrot and Funimation gives fans nothing about that possibility and overall, anything about the new season.

When "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 was first confirmed last year, it was teased by one of the show's writer to Anime Haru that the new season would be the "most disillusioning, psychological and darkest plot line" they will ever adapt.

He also teased that they "hope to remain as faithful as possible to the source material," but could not guarantee gory scenes won't be censored.
