'Vikings' season 4 spoilers: Ragnar to return, Lagertha and Aslaug face off

Lagertha in "Vikings." | History

Just a few weeks more left until the return of "Vikings" season 4 for its second half. The Irish-Canadian historical drama left off with a mid-season finale that had everyone wondering whether Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) will survive or Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) will make it after being stabbed.

According to a report by Crossmap, fans will be seeing more of Ragnar. In fact, he will be staying even after the season 4 finale. Rumors suggested that Ragnar will not live long in the second half of the season. But the hearsay has been debunked as Ragnar will continue to be there for his sons. The land conqueror is going to get old though and his sons will be his successors to the glory that he may never be able to get back.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, creator and writer Michael Hirst said that "Vikings" season 4 was meant to show the grown up sons of Ragnar. The boys will be bringing in new storylines that will eventually shake up things for Ragnar. Hirst also revealed that Ragnar will not be killed anytime soon. He said that he wants to keep on telling the story of the Vikings until the discovery of America with one of the king's descendants. Fans will have to stay tuned for this one.

Meanwhile, GameNGuide detailed that Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland) and Lagertha will be facing off for the Queen's throne. And now that their sons are all grown up, fans can expect to see from them bigger roles. Spoilers also suggest that Lagertha will be doing something that will really shock everyone. It's not known yet what it would be but it may have something to do with her plans against Aslaug.

This means that even after being brutally stabbed in the chest during the siege on Paris, Lagertha will survive and will live longer than expected. Hirst also mentioned that Lagertha is an important character so killing her off at this point is impossible.

"Vikings" season 4 episode 11 is expected to air this July.
