'Wolverine 3' news: Film gets two possible titles; X-23 to appear?

The third installment of the "Wolverine" film franchise is something that fans are looking forward to watching. It's going to be the last time that Hugh Jackman will play as the clawed mutant and everyone is expecting that it will be the best among the rest. And though not a lot of official details are available yet, there are some hints and spoilers on what will be coming in "Wolverine 3."

According to Independent, two possible titles for the solo spin-off movie have surfaced from Fox Studios. One is "Weapon X" while the other one is "Wolverine: Weapon X." None is certain yet, but based on the suggested titles, the story plot of the third movie may have something to do with Weapon X, which is the program that injected the mutant with metal.

The Weapon X facility was also seen in the post-credit scenes of the "X-Men: Apocalypse" movie. Reports detailed that the scene may have been the introduction to the upcoming "Wolverine 3." This also led to the speculations that Wolverine's female clone, X-23, will be making an appearance. For those who are not in the loop yet, X-23 is also known as Laura in Marvel Comics. Created in the laboratory and carried by surrogate mother Dr. Sarah Kinney, X-23 had a tough childhood.

In the photos shared by Just Jared, the "Wolverine 3" cast members were shown shooting in New Orleans. Jackman is in his character which is potentially the "Old Man Logan," and he is seen with a young child actress who has what appeared to be a wound on the chest. She was also previously spotted filming scenes with Jackman and Patrick Stewart as well. It's not official yet but the young actress could be playing the role of X-23.

"Wolverine 3" is directed by James Mangold, and other revealed cast members are Boyd Holbrook, Richard E Grant, Eriq La Salle and Stephen Merchant. The movie is scheduled to premiere in March 2017.
