BMW has recently announced pricing for the 2017 BMW 5 Series sedan. The seventh-generation vehicle is set to make debut at the North America International Auto Show (NAIAS) in January 2017.

The 2017 BMW 5 Series sedan will arrive at dealerships in February 2017 and will initially be available in four models: the 530i ($52,195), the 530i xDrive ($54,495), the 540i ($57,445) and the 540i xDrive ($59,745). Prices are inclusive of a $995 destination charge.

The first two models will be powered by a four-cylinder petrol engine mated to an eight-speed Steptronic transmission that delivers 252 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The engine can go from 0 to 62 miles per hour (mph) in 6.2 seconds. Meanwhile, the latter two are powered by a six-cylinder petrol engine that is also mated to an eight-speed Steptronic transmission. The engine produces 340 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. It goes from standstill to 62 mph in 5.1 seconds.

BMW will also release performance models for the 5 Series sedan: the 530e and the 530e xDrive. No pricing details have been announced as they are not expected to arrive until spring 2017.

The 2017 BMW 5 Series sedan comes with a stretched silhouette which provides more space inside the cabin. The luxury car was built using the EfficientLightweight construction concept that utilized aluminum, magnesium and high-strength steel to reduce weight by 137 pounds. As a result, the sedan's driving experience and aerodynamics have been enhanced.

Some of the standard features include adaptive LED headlights, 18-inch double-spoke wheels, a moonroof and fatigue and focus alert. The 8.8-inch or 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system also gains a new iDrive 6.0 user interface. It displays navigation, entertainment features and vehicle functions. Optional features include dynamic damper control with adaptive mode and integral active steering.

The upcoming business sedan also comes with the latest suite of assistance systems including the Lane Change Assistant, Lane Keeping Assistant with active side collision protection, Evasion Aid and Crossing traffic warning. The sedan also has the capability for autonomous driving with the optional Active Cruise Control system, Steering and Lane Control Assistant.

The 2017 BMW 5 Series sedan will make its debut at the NAIAS, to be held in Detroit from Jan. 8 to 22, 2017.
