Competing with giant smartphone companies is a rather risky feat. However, this didn't stop Amazon from jumping into the smartphone market. "Fire Phone" is its first attempt to find out if it will do well in the competition.

Rumors about Amazon producing its first smartphone aren't exactly new. But because of the success of smartphone giants such as Samsung, LG and Apple, Amazon took a longer time to decide whether to compete or not.

Amazon is not totally new in the market of mobile devices. They have produced the line of Kindle products, which has become very popular among book lovers.

A phone must be totally amazing to be able to compete with the iPhone 6. Amazon Fire does not disappoint. Because of the close similarities in specifications between the two phones, they have often been put up against each other.

The Amazon Fire display is commendable with its 4.7 inches IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 720 x 1280 pixels (312 ppi pixel density) and surface materials made from Corning Gorilla Glass 3 (front and back).

It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset and a Quad-core 2.2 GHz Krait 400 with Adreno 330 for its GPU.

For its internal storage, users have the option between 32GB and 64 GB, with 2GB RAM.

As for the camera, it has 13 MP with 4128 x 3096 pixels, optical image stabilization, autofocus and LED flash. Its secondary camera has a 2.1 MP.

The non-removable Li-Ion 2400 mAh battery is a little disappointing for some users. On standby, it is expected to last up to 285 hours. Talk time is up to 22 hours and music play is up to 65 hours.
