Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has just released the most comprehensive software update for its Radeon graphics cards and accelerated processing units (APUs). The Crimson ReLive Edition comes with new and innovative features, specifically when it comes to gaming and stability.

According to AMD, the next-generation Crimson ReLive Edition driver enables higher levels of productivity and stability. The software suite underwent more certification and stress testing than the previous graphics driver to deliver up to 30 percent in performance improvements. This is impressive considering that last year's Radeon Software Crimson Edition was already lauded by consumers and professionals alike.

"With Radeon Software, we've continued to set the highest standards by delivering the most complete and reliable software stack for gamers and creators, and one of the most community-lauded user interfaces," said Raja Koduri, senior vice president and chief architect of Radeon Technologies Group, adding, "Crimson ReLive Edition lets gamers share their biggest gaming victories, and gives creators free open source tools and rock solid stability."

The Radeon Software Crimson ReLive Edition allows gamers to "relive" gaming sessions via recording and streaming their gameplay. This will be seamless and will not significantly impact the gaming experience. An in-game toolbar with customizable settings has also been integrated within the software.

Other new features include Radeon Chill, an efficient framerate controller; AMD Liquid VR Technology that provides realistic virtual reality (VR) experiences on compatible hardware; and the enhanced Radeon FreeSync that allows for continuous communication between the display and the graphics card.

Meanwhile, the Radeon Pro Software Crimson ReLive Edition allows more creativity for designers, creators and game developers. The software was rigorously tested in order to deliver professional-grade stability and performance.

Some of the innovative features include Radeon ReLive, the ability to capture and record workflows; Radeon ProRender, an engine that allows professionals to create photorealistic images; and Radeon Loom, a software for video stitching in VR. The driver also comes with expanded support for Linux.

The next-generation software package from AMD is free and now available to download. The Radeon Software Crimson ReLive Edition drivers can be found here and the Radeon Pro Software Crimson ReLive Edition drivers are located here.
