AMD introduced its two new graphics cards, the RX 460 and the RX 470, at the PC Gaming Show during this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), which was held earlier this month at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

At the event, AMD CEO Lisa Su unveiled the new Radeon RX Series GPUs, both of which harness the company's innovative Polaris architecture. AMD launched the RX 460 and the RX 470 for the market segment consisting of avid gamers who are on a budget. According to AMD, the two new graphics cards are "set to transform PC gaming this summer by delivering enthusiast class performance and features for gamers at mainstream price points from $100-$300."

Su spoke to The Inquirer ahead of the PC Gaming Show, saying, "Most gamers have a budget and it's usually around $100 to $300."

"That's about 84 per cent of the market, and we're trying to get extremely enthusiast performance at those types of price so that all gamers can enjoy that kind of performance," she added.

While the RX 460 is said to offer major power at just 75 watts and is the perfect graphics card for e-sports games, the RX 470 is a toned-down version of the pricier RX 480, which was unveiled at an earlier event.

According to WCCFTech, the RX 480 offers a base clock speed of 1080 MHz and a boost clock speed of 1266 MHz. It draws roughly 100W of power in normal game settings, going as high as 150W in higher game settings.

The Polaris-based RX 480 has three DisplayPorts and one HDMI 2.0 port. It has an aluminium fin array heatsink for more efficient heat dissipation.

The RX 480 will retail at $199 for the 4GB model and $229 for the 8GB model.

According to Digital Trends, the RX 470 could be priced at $149 for the 4GB card and $179 for the 8GB card. Meanwhile, the RX 460 could be made available at $99 for the 2GB version and $119 for the 4GB version.

The Radeon RX 480, RX 470, and RX 460 are expected to hit store shelves on Wednesday, June 29.
