AMD Radeon RX 490 release date, specs rumors update: Device to launch before the year ends
With the release of new smartphones, consoles and personal computers, developers of graphics cards are expected to provide new tech to power better versions of these recent units.
Advanced Micro Devices' (AMD) Radeon RX 490 is a highly anticipated graphics card. With such little information about the RX 490, people are wondering when the company could introduce it to the industry.
A leak provided by Videocardz revealed that the AMD graphics card will be Vega-based. The card will have 4,096 processor cores, 256 texture mapping units, as well as 64 render output units.
According to the publication, the RX 490 will consist of second-generation high bandwidth memory (HBM2), which will have random access memory (RAM) with 8,196 MB storage capacity. The card will also house a 1,200 MHz base clock, and a 350 MHz memory clock.
Like most recent reports about the graphics card's launch date, the news outlet claimed that the RX 490 will be launched in the fourth quarter of the year.
There has been no official announcement from the company but recent reports suggest that the device might launch before the end of 2016. Previously, reports speculated that the RX 490 will be unveiled in early 2017.
Reports said the RX 490 is a 2016 product, as revealed by AMD. The company might have posted the information on its website by accident. Since the information presented revealed that the product is a part of a promotion that ends on Dec. 31, many expect the RX 490 to launch soon. Sapphire Global Support Ticket System even added the upcoming graphics card to its website, further bolstering the claim of a 2016 launching.
The company has yet to respond to the recent claims. Until it does so, tech-savvy fans should treat the reports as speculation. Watch out for more updates on AMD's Radeon RX 490.
