'American Horror Story' creator Ryan Murphy provides more info on planned 'Murder House' and 'Coven' crossover

There will be no shortage of "American Horror Story" in the next couple of years as the hit horror anthology has been renewed for three more seasons, which will run until 2019. That being said, the upcoming installments have already been garnering attention especially the tipped "Murder House" and "Coven" crossover.

As early as last year, show creator Ryan Murphy has already been teasing about the colliding of "American Horror Story" worlds with the planned installment. Now, in light of its multiseason renewal, the TV writer provides more information with regard to the spectacle revealing that show veteran Sarah Paulson may need to don multiple characters in the narrative.

"It's a character from season 1 that will be thrust into the world that you are left with at the end of Coven, which is sort of like the male/female/witch academy," Murphy explained in an exclusive talk with Entertainment Weekly. "And then all of those characters will intertwine, which is confusing because some of them are from seasons 1and 3. Like, Sarah Paulson will probably be playing 18 characters," he added.

Unfortunately, if the 51-year-old TV exec's previous statement is to be considered, the "American Horror Story" crossover will take a little bit more time to be realized. As it turns out, Murphy and his team are not planning to roll out the cumulative narrative just yet as the upcoming season 7 will have an entirely different story.

This direct sequel, however, has already hit the ground running in terms of pre-production procedures to the point that FX CEO John Landgraf sounds confident about what the hit show will bring to the table next.

"We know explicitly what next season is about, which is seven, but we don't know what the eighth and ninth seasons are about," he said via a press statement. However, whatever follows after season 7 wraps, it seems like Murphy and co-creator Brad Falchuk are going to keep the plot tightly under wraps as Landgraf adds: "I honestly couldn't tell you what seasons 8 or 9 [could] be, but I can only tell you that I'm really excited about season 7 and I'm utterly confident that seasons 8 and 9 will be equally original and interesting."
