'American Horror Story' season 7 renewal news: FX greenlights season 7 of horror series
"American Horror Story" will be back for a seventh run.
FX renewed the horror anthology series of co-creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk. For now, no other details have been announced but the new season will debut sometime next year.
"American Horror Story" is currently airing its sixth season. The show's new chapter subtitled "Roanoke," plays out as a faux paranormal documentary called "My Roanoke Nightmare." It follows Shelby Miller (Sarah Paulson) and her husband Matt (Cuba Gooding Jr.), who relocate from Los Angeles to a house in Roanoke Island, North Carolina. Shortly after the couple settles into their new home, they begin to experience various paranormal events.
"American Horror Story" season 6 brings back numerous returning cast members from previous seasons. Apart from Paulson, these include Angela Bassett, Lily Rabe, Kathy Bates, Lady Gaga, Wes Bentley, Evan Peters, Denis O'Hare, Adina Porter, Cheyenne Jackson, and Leslie Jordan. Gooding Jr., who starred in Murphy and Falchuk's "American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson," is a new addition to the cast, as is André Holland.
"Ryan, Brad and their team of remarkable writers have done an amazing job of keeping 'American Horror Story' endlessly inventive, shocking and entertaining, and we are honored to move ahead with them on the seventh installment," FX Networks and Productions CEO John Landgraf said in a statement. "'AHS' confronts our deepest fears with unmatched suspense and style. Each new installment is a cultural event, hotly anticipated for its theme, imagery, cast and twists," he added.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly for a recent cover story, Murphy confirmed that he already has an idea for the season 7 storyline. According to the "American Horror Story" boss, the next season of the award-winning FX series will be similar to the current season because it will shake things up for viewers.
"It's also a narratively strange idea," he said. "I've already started to call people saying, 'Put this on your calendar.' It's a good one," Murphy continued.
"American Horror Story" season 6 airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. EDT on FX.
