Android 5.0 Lollipop Device Settings Now Features Ability to Toggle Using Voice
Now, you no longer need to download third-party widgets just to toggle Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and flashlight for LED camera using your voice.
A recent update to the Google Search app on Android 5.0 Lollipop devices now allows users to use their voice to toggle several settings on Android Lollipop devices.
But CNET reminded that users need their phones to be running the most recent version of the Google Search app if they want these voice commands to work properly.
CNET instructed users who want to test the Toggle Android 5.0 device setting, to tap the search button in the app, or wake the service with the "OK, Google" command, if they have that set up.
The tech news site also advised Android Lollipop users to simply ask the service to toggle their Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or the flashlight. For example: "OK, Google, turn on Bluetooth." With this command, a Google Now card appear will appear to indicate that it can now be toggled.
"You can touch the card to adjust the toggle if you asked for the wrong one or changed your mind. Additionally, if you have the volume on, you'll hear confirmation of the action being spoken to you," CNET said.
Right now, this feature only works for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and the flashlight. But it will still bring up shortcuts to your other settings – like GPS, NFC and Airplane mode – if you ask it to toggle them.
With new features and app being continuously added in Google Play Store, fans are starting to approve the updates on Android 5.0 Lollipop, which had been suffering from many bugs and battery issues.
Back in 2014, the search engine giant Google introduced the ability to toggle through voice commands. But reviews said the feature wasn't as effective since it only allows users to toggle through the settings menu and open the corresponding menu.
