Android 5.1, 5.2 Lollipop Update for LG Nexus 5 Rumors: Leak Shows Google Testing OS on Device

Plagued with many complaints, Google is reportedly preparing another set of updates for Android's 5.0 Lollipop to address new issues including the mobile OS' slow adoption rates.

A leak, according to International Business Times, revealed that the tech giant might be testing two programs on the LG Nexus 5 that are believed to be Android 5.1 and Android 5.2.

Google's history earlier proved that it has always given the Nexus line a priority when it comes to the set of devices that will receive updates on its mobile operating systems.

If the tech company decides to roll out the update this coming March, it will probably test the Android updates on Nexus 5, Nexus 6, and Nexus 9 before trying it out on HTC's One M7 and One M8.

Mo Versi, vice president of product management at Google, hinted the launch of the company's next big mobile OS updates this coming March in a statement posted on his Twitter account. "It'll be tied to Google's next MR, which is in March. Thanks," he said in a post sent at 11:22 a.m. last Feb. 18.

"Android 5.1 has started seeding to Android One devices so it should be a matter of time before the update hits mainstream and standard devices like the Nexus and HTC series," IBT reported.

Citing information from unidentified sources of AndroidPIT, IBT said people can expect a few things that might be included in Android 5.1's changelog. These include actions that will give an option to add a silent mode, which has been missing in the Android 5.0, as well as general improvements in system stability.

AndroidPIT said the update will also improve RAM and battery management as well as fix sudden app closures and excessive consumption of network devices when using Wi-Fi.

It also reported that Android 5.1 may also address issues with wireless connections, problems with Okay Google function, notifications, and some sound problems experience by certain devices.

It will also have other improvements and changes especially in the material design color palette following complaints from users of higher versions.

Google's Android 5.0 Lollipop has been considered generally as the biggest update of the mobile OS yet.
