Android 7.0 Nougat news update: Nextbit Robin now on closed beta session; here's how to participate

All users of Nextbit Robin smartphone can now experience the much-talked-about features of Android 7.0 Nougat through the closed beta session. The Android 7.0 Nougat for Robin was made possible via the support of the development team of Paranoid Android custom ROM.

Google rolled out the Android 7.0 Nougat a couple of months ago and a number of devices have already received the update. While some brands and older smartphone models are still waiting for their own update, Nextbit announced that they are releasing a "solid beta" of Android 7.0 Nougat to their Nextbit Robin users.

The people behind Nextbit reportedly collaborated with the Paranoid Android custom ROM team so as the make NextbitOS run compatible with Google's latest OS. The company stated that their partnership resulted in faster processing.

The partnership of Nextbit and Paranoid Android is not only limited to improving the process of Nougat update, the company also assisted Paranoid Android in their development of custom ROM of Nougat for the smartphone.

"They [Paranoid Android] are a talented group of developers and we're excited to be working with them to make sure Robin runs even better whether you're running NextbitOS, or Paranoid Android," said Mike Chan, Nextbit's CTO, according to the company's blog post.

Nextbit Robin users need to participate in the beta update in order to receive Android 7.0 Nougat. The update notification should automatically pop on their devices that are registered in the program. Those who are not required to participate in the beta test, but still want to join, a sign-up form can be accessed on Nextbit's official website.

Nexbit, however, warns its users that if they already modded their Nextbit Robin handset, they do not encourage to download the Android 7.0 Nougat update.

Nextbit Robin received praises for its impressive design, fast charging capabilities and unique cloud storage integration, among others.
