Sony Mobile delighted its customers when it released Android 7.1.1 Nougat some of its devices. This has just made the company the first one to get the Nougat update among all Google-based smartphones.

Sony Mobile made a great impression when it skipped the release of Android 7.0 Nougat and jumped directly to the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat for its Xperia X. The new update has changed the company's build number for the recent firmware and so it is now 38.3.A.0.41. Furthermore, the Android build number has also been changed to NMF26F8.

As seen from the Xperia blog, the update includes the December security patches. This disappointed the users since the January patches are to be released soon. Nevertheless, there are more features added in the update such as faster start-up of the camera, a restart option and Remote Play support, among others.

Sony already confirmed that it is adding support for the PlayStation 4 (PS4) remote-play, which is great news for gamers. However, there is no available DualShock support included in the update as of this time. Enthusiasts hope that the build will eventually add support to the PS4 controller in the near future. In the meantime, customers would have to be contented with the Remote Play support.

Currently, Android 7.1.1 Nougat is up for grabs for those who registered for the Experimental update track. This indicates that the same update will be rolled out to the public soon. Sony Mobile has yet to announce the specific time frame of the Nougat update.

All Xperia owners can download the Android 7.1.1 Nougat build if they do not have anything that will run against the beta program.

Those who want to install the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update on Xperia X can visit the Concept Installer application found on Google Play Store. It has to be remembered, though, that the update is currently on "experimental" build and so stability issues is highly possible.
