Apple AirPods release date, price, news: Phone accessory to launch in January 2017?

Apple's new wireless AirPods is anticipated to be launched in January next year. Meanwhile, are the AirPods disadvantaged by Bragi's presence in the market?

Apple recently announced that they will be releasing a new set of wireless AirPods. According to Macworld, a Chinese supplier has confirmed that the AirPods will be released in January of next year. The initial release date of the AirPods was supposed to be in October, but the month has passed and Apple did not launch the anticipated wireless earphones into the market.

An Apple spokesperson told TechCrunch, "We don't believe in shipping a product before it's ready, and we need a little more time before Airpods are ready for our customers."

According to MacRumors, the delay of the AirPods release caused an excited fan of the device to leave a comment for Apple last November.

"Give us a release date. I really bought in to the wireless vision you painted... Let us know if it's a month or 6 months, because then I'll just buy some other wireless headphones," the post read.

Apple CEO Tim Cook provided a response to the Apple customer. "Thanks for your note. Sorry for the delay---we are finalizing them and I anticipate we will begin to ship over the next few weeks," was Cook's response.

So, the AirPods might debut into the market in January, or somewhere in the first quarter of 2017. Apple's wireless earphones are expected to be priced around $159 dollars in the U.S. and will have the same £159 in the UK.

Meanwhile, because the launch of the AirPods has been delayed, Apple might be at a disadvantage because of Bragi's new The Headphone wireless earbuds.

The Headphone is Bragi's second generation of wireless earbuds, following The Dash which was made available in the market last year.

The Headphone comes with three ear tip sizes and a Comply Foam tips that make it snug in the ear and provides a more isolated sound, according to 9to5Mac. The device is waterproof and enables an audio transparency mode, allowing the user to hear outside sounds, rather than having a completely isolated sound system.

Because the wireless AirPods have not yet reached the market, Bragi's The Dash and The Headphone might be taking the spotlight in customers who want to have wireless earphones.

Apple's AirPods is expected to debut in January 2017.
