Apple iOS 8.2 Release Date, New Features: Update Fixes Bugs, Except for 'WiFried' Woe that Disconnects WiFi Connections
During last Monday's "Spring Forward" event in San Francisco, C.A., Apple focused more on its upcoming products including the Apple Watch and even brought out the MacBook. At the tail end of the event the company announced that it was about to release the iOS 8.2.
A couple of hours later, the latest update to the operating system present on iPhones, iPads and iPods started rolling out throughout the world.
However, as soon as the update was installed, users found out that a well-known bug that made it presence felt in iOS 8 had still not been fixed. Nicknamed "WiFried," the bug has caused many users to complain that their WiFi connections often break and in some cases their phones even refuse to connect to a WiFi network. What makes this bug a huge problem is that it simultaneously causes the battery on the device to drain quickly, forcing the user to recharge the battery every four to six hours.
However, another pesky bug known as "GMT" was fixed by the new update. As for the positive features in the update, they included updates to HealthKit and fixes for problems surrounding the import of data.
Another major bug that the iOS 8.2 update fixed was the Bluetooth – one that affected a number of car headsets and resulted in some users unable to hear any audio until a call was answered. Important apps like Mail, Maps and Music also got upgraded with this update.
As with every update, this one also saw some users complaining about temporary technical problems while others said they had to reset to the original factory settings.
The Apple Companion app was a major addition that came along with the iOS 8.2. The app provides some interesting information about how the Apple Watch would be able to interact with the iPhone paired with it.
