Smart wearable devices are on the rise. Following its 2014 announcement by Apple and subsequent release a year later, Apple Watch has become the most popular wearable gadget, a number of researches suggest. However, the Cupertino-based giant has yet to confirm the existence of the unannounced smartwatch. Meanwhile, latest reports suggest that the upcoming Apple Watch 2 may be released together with iPhone 7 around this fall.

As revealed by Apple-tracking tech blog MacRumors, industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities mentioned in his note to investors that the Silicon Valley titan is likely to unveil the second-generation Apple Watch around the same time the seventh-generation iPhone gets a public reveal.

Apple Watch 2 will reportedly run on a powerful processor for faster and more efficient overall performance. Under the hood, the new smartwatch will be equipped with a barometer, global positioning system (GPS) support and a larger battery. The device will also sport a waterproof design.

Despite being one of this year's highly anticipated tech arrivals, the rumored Apple Watch 2 was never officially confirmed by the company. It was not even discussed during the company's Worldwide Developers' Conference (WWDC) this year in June. However, Apple's WWDC did touch on the upcoming Watch OS 3 which would bring a slew of new exciting features.

However, the reputable tech leakster did not drop hints about a possible addition of FaceTime camera and improved WiFi connectivity. He also added that Long-Term Evolution (LTE) support is unlikely to come this year. Instead, LTE may arrive in the next iterative upgrade. As for the pricing, Apple is expected to announce price markdowns for the upgraded Apple Watch 1 to make way for its successor.

In a related development, Apple will reportedly announce another smartwatch in September that could either be Apple Watch 3 or a wearable device entirely separate from its existing product line. If a report from International Business Times proves accurate, the rumored Watch may be one of the highlights of the company's big tech reveals that usually takes place this fall.
