Apple watchOS 3.1.1 latest update: Apple still quiet about the issue; Series 1 users now affected by update

Apple Watch users are apparently disappointed with the latest watchOS 3.1.1 update due to the security flaw observed. Apple has been quiet about it, but the company has already pulled out the update.

The Cupertino-based tech company has rolled out the watchOS 3.1.1 on Monday, but it quickly became unavailable. MacRumors reported that the update has caused the Apple Watch to be unusable.

Actual users took it to Reddit to share the matter, revealing that after they installed the update, the wearable device began to display an exclamation point within a circle. It also comes with a link to the Apple Support, which is www.apple.com/help/watch.

Once the users click on the link, it redirects them to the page that informs them to forcefully restart their device by long pressing the Digital Crown and the side button at the same time. The Apple logo should be seen after restarting the Apple Watch. If this does not work, the support page recommends them to bring their watch to the nearby service.

"If your Apple Watch displays a red exclamation point after a software update, you need to contact Apple Support for service options," the site reads.

The problem was first thought to be only experienced by the Apple Watch Series 2 users, but those who use the Series 1 also reported similar issues. Apple did not release any statement regarding the issue.

On the contrary, there are Apple users who have not experienced the same problem. For what it is worth, watchOS 3.1.1 only gives a minor update and it is mostly focused on fixing important issues such as the response to the notifications or the appearance of contact names in the Messages app.

For now, those who have not updated to the latest watchOS yet should not do so. Apple Watch has no means for wired connection and so the watch can only be repaired at an Apple Store.
