Things are certainly going south for the Arizona Cardinals, and injuries have been a big part of why they are one of the more disappointing teams in the National Football League.

Initially thought of as one of the contenders for the title this campaign, the Cardinals are now 1–3 in the league, fourth in the National Football Conference (NFC) West and slowly losing grip at any chance for a successful run in the season.

In order to try and cover up for some injuries, reports reveal that the Cardinals have re-signed running back Kerwynn Williams as Chris Johnson went down due to a groin injury.

The Cardinals certainly have a short week to prepare and the addition of Williams gives the Cardinals another target on the field as they try to turn things around with a win on Thursday Night Football.

Williams may not be the best choice, but it certainly is understandable. He could have been chosen due to his past performances, but he has a long way to go as for being match fit.

Furthermore, it cements the notion that Elijhaa Penny is still not ready to make it to the main roster. Despite being available for picking, Penny is still with the team's practice squad.

However, speaking about Williams, he should be a relatively good running back while the Cardinals recover from injuries. Picked in the seventh round back in 2013, Williams was cut by the Cardinals as they were making their final cuts for the regular season. At 25 years old, Williams will have his second chance with Arizona and should do his best to make it count.

In Williams' 12 total games with the Cardinals in his career, he has rushed for 411 yards, having 90 carries and scoring one touchdown.

Arizona travels to the Levi's Stadium on Thursday to face the San Francisco 49ers.
