'Arrow' season 5 news, spoilers: DC crossover event will feature a single threat; Flashpoint story arc will affect 'Arrow'
While there are still several months to go before the highly talked-about four-way DC crossover event, major details about the episodes are already being revealed.
In a recent interview for Entertainment Weekly's Spoiler Room, producer Greg Berlanti let a juicy detail about the crossover episodes slip.
"I'm going to probably try to have one unifying threat, as opposed to different things on different ones, which is what the first year was," he said.
Who or what this new threat is is currently unknown. According to EW, Berlanti shared that the DC team is just about to break the crossover episodes.
Meanwhile, "Arrow" executive producer Wendy Mericle recently sat down media outlets to talk about the four DC television shows on The CW. According to the producer, the "Flashpoint" story arc in the upcoming season of "The Flash" will reverberate throughout the DC Expanded Universe and be felt in the world of Oliver Queen/Green Arrow (Steven Amell) and his team.
"There will be some effect," Mericle said. "I can't tell you how big or how small, but we will definitely honor that [Flashpoint] has happened. There will be some characters that are more influenced and impacted by it, mainly Felicity. She's going to be carrying something in regard to that this season."
The producer went on to describe what Star City will be like when "Arrow" returns.
According to Mericle, "the city is not in a great state," although she added that Oliver will still act as the mayor. He will, however, be fighting a war on two fronts one of which is the mob.
"We dealt a little bit with the Bertinellis in Season 1, and they are going to be a huge element this season," she revealed.
The fifth season of "Arrow" debuts on Wednesday, Oct. 5, on The CW.
