'Arrow' season 5 spoilers, cast news: Stephen Amell teases of an upgraded superhero costume; How will Curtis Holt figure in the series?
The premiere of "Arrow" season 5 isn't until October, but thankfully, its lead star Stephen Amell was kind enough to share details about the upcoming season.
Amell took to Facebook to share tidbits about season 5, including who will be calling the shots for the season premiere. According to Amell, veteran stunt coordinator James Bamford will be in charge, and he said there will be a sequence where he will be given "an opportunity for us to quite literally have the most vicious, violent one-shot—which is where there is no cut—in the history of network television."
In the same Facebook video, Amell said he insisted on doing the dangerous scene himself, to which Bamford responded, "Fine, then you've gotta do it shirtless." So there's one thing that female fans of "Arrow" would certainly look forward to.
Incidentally, Amell said that his superhero costume will be a "slightly modified version" of the old one. He also promised that a character whom fans haven't seen in two full seasons will be making a comeback in the fifth season.
Meanwhile, Den of Geek has reported that "Arrow" season 5 will be back on The CW on Oct. 5. Moreover, it has been confirmed that "The Walking Dead" alum Chad L. Coleman will play season 5's main villain, Anton Church. He will make his debut in the premiere episode. Rick Gonzalez of "Mr. Robot" has also signed up for the fifth installment, and he will appear on the series as DC Comic's violent vigilante Wild Dog.
Echo Kellum is also joining "Arrow" season 5 as Curtis Holt. According to TV Line, executive producer Wendy Mericle is doing everything she can to make sure that Curtis' character won't cover the same space that Felicity Smoak's (Emily Bett Rickards)does.
"Essentially, if she's software, he's hardware ... As he evolves into becoming Mr. Terrific in Season 5, one of the things we're really exploring is differentiating them by having Curtis be more like Cisco on The Flash. We want him to be a bit more hands-on, a little more about building physical tech," Mericle told TV Line.
From the new characters joining the show and the promise of a more badass Ollie, it looks like "Arrow" season 5 would be worth the wait.
