Ash is back. Or nearly here, at least. Next year, actor Bruce Campbell will be resurrecting his wisecracking, demon and monster killing character Ash in the TV series titled "Ash vs. Evil Dead," courtesy of Starz.

Ash and Deadite fans alike have plenty of reasons to rejoice because Campbell, supreme cult fan favorite without a doubt, has teamed up once more with director Sam Raimi. The duo is expected to unleash the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis, the Deadites, other assorted monsters, and the chainsaw and shotgun carrying Ash, upon their loyal audiences again.

It's been a long time, and dedicated followers of the "Evil Dead" franchise have surely missed the most unlikely hero ever to be tasked to save this planet from destruction.

The "Ash vs. Evil Dead" TV series that will be aired in 2015 will come in half-hour episodes, 10 of them in all. For the moment, that's what director Sam Raimi, Raimi's long time collaborator Rob Tapert, and lead Bruce Campbell -- all acting as executive producers -- have in mind.

But if the series does take off (and chances are, it will, given how absolutely entertaining the franchise has been), and if fans ask for more, then it could be extended.

After all, there's a totally new generation of viewers that will be introduced to the stock boy turned horror action hero who romances the ladies (monstrous or not), and these new viewers are projected to enjoy the campy surreal show as well.

There's also the fact that with the success that the "Evil Dead" franchise enjoyed in the past, and the backing of Starz, there will be greater resources to heighten production values some more, by way of awesome special effects. These effects could provide the needed hook to entice the younger kind of audiences who have grown up on CGI and fast-paced digital games.
