Asus ZenWatch vs Samsung Gear 2 Specs, Price Comparison: Features Review - Almost Equals Face Off
A comparison between the Asus ZenWatch and the Samsung Gear 2 reveals two similar looking devices that are almost equal in terms of specs and features.
Design
The recently launched ZenWatch has a rectangular watch face and in this aspect is much like its rival, the Gear 2. However, the ZenWatch is shorter and wider when compared to the Gear 2. In terms of weight, the Gear 2 is much lighter, weighing at just 68 grams compared to the 75 grams of the ZenWatch. As for their bodies, both are crafted from stainless steel. The Gear 2 comes with either a black or gold polish, while the ZenWatch comes with a default steel finish. Comparing their straps, the ZenWatch comes with a default leather strap while the Gear 2 has plastic straps in orange, black and gold. However, on both devices, the straps can be swapped out with standard 22mm bands. The ZenWatch has a weaker dust and water resistance rating of IP55 and can only resist splashes of water. The Gear 2 can be submerged in up to one meter of water for 30 minutes without incurring damage since it has an IP67 rating.
Display
The display on the Gear 2 is a 1.63-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 320 x 320 pixels and a density of 278 pixels per inch, while the ZenWatch has an AMOLED screen with a similar resolution and pixels per inch.
Specs
On the Gear 2 is a dual core CPU clocked at 1 GHz, 512 MB RAM and 4 GB internal storage, while the ZenWatch has a quad core Snapdragon 400 CPU clocked at 1.2 GHz along with 512 MB RAM and 4 GB internal storage.
Sensors
The ZenWatch has a 9 axis bio sensor including a pedometer and heart rate sensor, while the Gear 2 has a heart rate sensor, pedometer and sleep monitor.
Price
The ZenWatch is priced at $200 while the Gear 2 carries a $300 price tag.
