Atlanta Hawks trade rumors 2016: May need to address wing log jam
The Atlanta Hawks made a few moves this summer and have been relatively quiet as of late.
It appears that they may be silent for a reason as many are considering that their current squad is a bit ruffled in the wing position.
According to Fan Sided, the team may face some tough decisions as they have too much wing players to distribute playing time.
To put things in perspective, a wing player is said to be one who can play either the shooting guard or the small forward position and is the most athletic of the line-up. The wing player is also described as one who can reliably shoot from anywhere on the court.
Given that the team has a lot of wings, it may be too good that it can cause problems in trying to give everyone equal playing time.
Looking at their line-up, there are seven players on the roster who fit the bill as wing players, and they are Kyle Korver, Tim Hardaway, Jr, Kent Bazemore, Thabo Sefalosha, Taurean Prince, DeAndre Bembry, and Mike Scott.
Among the seven, the two who will get the starting nods are Korver in the shooting guard position, and Bazemore in the small forward position.
Scott is added as he is a small forward but can also play power forward, but the others are expected to try and get along with the minutes they have.
Prince and Bembry are new additions from the draft, and the Hawks getting two small forwards is an interesting move as it poses this problem now.
With so many players in the position, growth and development may be hard to build, and this may cause problems for the team.
Luckily, SB Nation pointed out that the Hawks have a lot of expiring contracts in 2017 that this issue may be fixed by the end of the season.
However, with the addition of Dwight Howard in the team, the Hawks are seemingly in a "win now" attitude, and this problem with the wings may come back to haunt them.
It should be interesting to see how this plays out.
