'Attack on Titan' anime release date, latest news: Trailer for second season launched
Funimation recently released the official trailer for the second season of the anime series "Attack on Titan," much to the delight of the manga and anime fans this Christmas season.
"Today marks the new darkest day in humanity's history," a voice is heard speaking at the beginning of the trailer. "If ever humankind needed to give its all, that time is now!"
The new trailer opens, in a familiar fashion, with an army of titans wreaking havoc in what remains of the human civilization. As seen in the trailer, Wall Rose has been breached, compromising the second outermost wall which protects the citizens of the Chlorba District, the Karanese District, and the Trost District.
"Only when a person stops fighting do they lose," an older, masculine voice said, adding, "As long as we continue to fight, we are not beaten!"
Still fighting for the rest of humanity, main characters Eren, Mikasa, and Armin are back in their best combat form yet, eliminating one titan after another with their acrobatic moves and deadly weapons. A clip of Eren is shown in which he willfully transforms to his titan form in order to fight against a relatively bigger titan.
Aside from the run-of-the-mill titans, a few new and distinct titans have also appeared in the trailer. In one of the scenes, the Beast Titan is seen throwing a fully grown horse toward a member of the Survey Corps. Another titan is seen digging into the bodies of other titans. Although these new characters may be new to those who solely watch the anime, manga fans are already quite acquainted with these titans.
The latest trailer also features the menacing antagonists of the anime's first season: the Armored Titan and the Colossal Titan.
"Attack on Titan" still has no specific release date announced. However, as reported by Polygon, Funimation, the U.S. distributor of the popular anime, has confirmed that fans can expect the series to return sometime in April 2017.
