'Attack on Titan' Manga chapter 85 update, spoilers news 2016: Eren's identity to be revealed; Origin of the Titans to be explored

The upcoming chapter 85 of the highly popular "Attack on Titan" manga series is expected to be centered on the Survey Corps' mission to search for Dr. Yaeger's basement. The old residence of the Yaeger clan is likely to contain the answers to the world's biggest mysteries, most especially about the existence of the malevolent and flesh-eating titans. The episode may also reveal the true identity of Eren.

According to reports, Chapter 85 will see Eren, Mikasa and Armin returning to the titan-ravaged town after being away for a long time. The first thing that the group needs to do is to look for the Yeager residence and inspect the area for things that will help them in determining the big titan mystery. Little do they know that by finding the old house of Dr. Yaeger, they will also find the much coveted Holy Grail in the series.

Being one of the first known titan shifters in the series, Dr. Yaeger may very well be aware of the secret behind the creation of the titans. Dr. Yaeger, who happens to be Eren's father, is speculated to have decoded the secret in the titans' genetic makeup. He may have also come up with an antidote that will revert the titans back to their human form.

As for Eren, Chapter 85 may also reveal more personal information about the character. It has always been a mystery why Dr. Yaeger has always thought of his son as the perfect bearer of the Coordinator. At one point when Eren encountered the titan shifter Zeke, also known as the Beast Titan, the latter remarked how Eren reminded him of his own self, and how the two of them ended up as Dr. Yaeger's victims. Perhaps these things will be explained when Eren reaches the Yaeger basement.

On the other hand, Hall of Fame Magazine reported that Chapter 85 will also show Armin becoming a titan. Interestingly, it is also rumored that Armin may be inheriting the memories of the Colossal Titan. There is a long running theory that the previous titan shifter may be able to pass on their memories to the one next in line, although other fans are debating against this. If this was true, then Eren should have also acquired the memories of Dr. Yaeger.
