The agency of Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement and Logistics Division (SHIELD) was pretty much disbanded by the end of "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and even though the "Agents of SHIELD" series may be getting along, the movie universe does not do so much to acknowledge it. Samuel L. Jackson, who plays SHIELD leader Nick Fury, commented on the possible return of the agency to the movie universe and whether or not audiences will see them return in "The Avengers: Infinity War."

In a recent interview with ComingSoon.net, Jackson was asked about the possible return of SHIELD, and he said, "Yeah! For sure, definitely. Why wouldn't there be? There's some way of fixing what they created, and hopefully somebody has that going on or Nick Fury is out there."

He then went on to joke that Nick may be hanging out with Jackson's character from "Pulp Fiction," Jules, as they walk around the world. "Winter Soldier" even paid homage to the Jules character when they put "The path of the righteous man...Ezekiel 25:17" on Nick Fury's tombstone. One of the trademarks of Jules was that he would recite the passage Ezekiel 25:17 before he killed someone (he was a hired gun).

Jackson also commented on his absence in "Captain America: Civil War." He says, "They'll bring me back somehow, some way, for some reason. I mean, they didn't have me around to referee the kids when they didn't go to their rooms and got in this big old fight. We'll see what happens."

The TV series now has a new director other than Fury handling the reigns of SHIELD, so it would be interesting to see how much the agency will grow by the time "Infinity War" comes around. Marvel TV elements have yet to crossover to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it may be only a matter of time.

"The Avengers: Infinity War" will come out on May 4, 2018.
