The Season 19 premiere of "The Bachelor" kicked off with farmer Chris Soules taking on the bachelor's position and meeting the 30 contestants who were vying for his attention. At the end of the premiere episode, Soules had presented roses to 22 of the contestants and sent eight packing.

The premiere started with Soules bemoaning the fate of his crops, the harvesting of which he said he was missing. Seven ladies were then profiled extensively and they included school counselor Kelsey, flight attendant Alissa, ballet instructor Amanda, waitress Britt, national news producer Jillian, fertility nurse Whitney and dental assistant Mackenzie.

Soon after that the 30 contestants arrived at the mansion. Some of them greeted him in creative fashion. Britt for instance gave him a paper with a free hug and asked him to speak to her later for an explanation. Then Reegan, who works as a donated tissue specialist, greeted Soules with a fake heart. Tara claimed that she was an avid enthusiast of "fishing" and came dressed in flannel and cowboy boots which she soon changed out of.

Following the introductions, there was a cocktail party. While Kaitlyn tried to teach Soules some break dance moves, Tara started drinking liquor in earnest. Ashley, who kept talking about onions, appeared like she was drunk.

Britt, who charmed Soules with her explanation of the free hug, ended up getting the first rose and also got a kiss from him. Then later on, despite Tara being totally drunk, hiccupping and scratching herself, Soules decided to pick her and gave her a rose.

Finally eight were eliminated from the season including Amanda, Kara, Nicole, Brittany, Michelle, Kimberly, Bo, and Reegan. Among the eight, US Magazine states that Kimberly did not take her elimination well and cried. She then confronted Soules. This confrontation will only be aired next week.
