'Batman vs Superman' Movie Cast News: Jesse Eisenberg Bald as He Plays a Different Lex Luthor
Jesse Eisenberg had to bid goodbye to his famous curls in trying to bring Lex Luthor to life in Zack Snyder's "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice."
The Entertainment Weekly recently released the first image of a bald-headed Eisenberg as Superman's chief nemesis in the movie which is set to hit theaters on March 25 next year.
The black and white image of "The Social Network" actor, the Variety reported, laid to rest any rumblings of the actor's inability to play a villain.
Zack Snyder teased that Eisenberg's portrayal of the super-villain will be anything unlike any other movie's take on the character. "He's not any of the Lexes that you've seen, that's for sure. Other than him being a captain of industry and one person to the world and another person to himself. And bald, of course," Snyder said, according to EW.
"Our Lex is disarming and he's not fake. He says what he believes and he says what's on his mind. If you can unravel the string and decipher what he means, it's all there," the "300" creator and director said.
For his part, Eisenberg described the new Lex as "a complicated, challenging person" in a separate interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
He explained how he collaborated with screenwriter Chris Terrio "to create a real psychology behind what is, perhaps, in a comic book, a less than totally modern psychology."
The character Lex Luthor is usually thought to be bald. Gene Hackman famously wore wigs to conceal the character's chrome dome when he played a rather vain Lex Luthor in the 1970s and 1980s films.
In 2006, Kevin Spacey ditched his locks to play Lex Luthor in "Superman Returns" although the character relied on wigs for disguises.
