A single charge on the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge can last between 18 to 23 hours with average use if tips to improve battery life are followed. Here are some of them.

One major cause of battery drain is the brightness of the display. When the device is set at full brightness, the battery drains out very quickly. Thankfully this can be easily fixed on the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge by going to Settings > Display and changing the brightness slider to somewhere between 40-60 percent or lower.

Then you need to find and shut down apps that are eating battery life. On the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge you can easily find such apps by navigating to Settings > Battery > Battery usage. Once you discover the apps that are draining your phone's battery life you can switch them off if you normally do not use them. To do this, head over to Settings > Applications Menu > Application Manager. Then tap on the app and select the stop option. You should definitely follow this procedure to stop any bloatware installed by Samsung. These include Wi-Fi calling, S-Voice and Samsung Lock.

Another trick that many users employ to find apps that are draining the battery is turning off their device and then rebooting it into safe mode.

On the Galaxy S6, you can prolong how long a charge lasts by going to Settings > System> Battery and then selecting either the power saving mode or the ultra power saving mode. The power saving mode will, among other things, reduce the screen brightness, frame rate, and vibration among others. The Ultra power saving feature pushes screen color to grayscale, turns off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and mobile data.

The S6 Edge even allows for users to turn off the smart network switch which can cause a lot of battery drain by constantly switching between Wi-Fi and a cellular network.

Turning off or changing the location method used by Google to check track of your location can also drastically reduce battery drain. To do this, go to the notifications menu and press and hold the location settings option to bring it up. Then navigate to location method to change it to GPS only. In doing so, you will get the most out of your battery.
