'Bones' season 12 episode 6 spoilers: Booth, Brennan discover the deadly sport of lumberjacking in 'The Flaw in the Saw'

Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan (Emily Deschanel) may just get acquainted with the wrong end of a chainsaw in the next episode of "Bones."

Titled "The Flaw in the Saw," episode 6 of "Bones: The Final Chapter" takes the couple Booth and Brennan to a Lumber Sports Regional Championship event to investigate the murder of one Phyllis Paul (Melissa Tracy). Formerly a golfer, Phyllis has turned to lumberjacking as her primary sport, and her death will be unearthing secrets that concern both the event and the victim's personal affairs. One or more of these secrets may have led to Phyllis' eventual death, and an affair with a married rival seems to be at the top of Booth and Brennan's list.

However, conducting an investigation during a championship event is not a good idea to begin with, especially with chainsaw-wielding suspects in every corner. In the trailer for the upcoming episode, Booth tells his wife, Brennan, that they should probably let their latest suspect put down her chainsaw first before they even think of accusing her of murder.

What caused the death of such a promising lumberjack like Phyllis? Could it have anything to do with her aforementioned affair with a married rival, an unresolved grudge from her golfing days, or something else that is totally unrelated to her sporting life?

Moreover, the episode will also reveal that Dr. Hodgins (T.J. Thyne) has been making his own secret investigation into Zack's (Eric Millegan) case. He takes on the challenge of analyzing the bacteria on the bone of a prior victim in the hopes of uncovering significant evidence that could prove his former colleague and close friend's innocence. Will he be able to find what he is looking for, and could this be the big break that Brennan needs to finally exonerate Zack from the murder of the lobbyist Ray (Ray Abruzzo)?

Will Dr. Hodgins efforts count for anything when he and Zack finally get a chance to talk and maybe try to repair their friendship?

The next episode of "Bones: The Final Chapter" airs on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at 9:01 p.m. EST on FOX.
