Boston Celtics trade rumors: Blake Griffin on the radar
The Boston Celtics are making headlines again as they are linked to another NBA superstar.
After the Celtics already failing to land Kevin Durant, there were many pointing to the Eastern Conference team to try and sign another Oklahoma City Thunder star in Russell Westbrook.
Westbrook still has a year left in his contract and the Thunder are definitely going to try and work out a deal with him. However, if they are unable to secure the superstar long term, it is possible that Oklahoma City may find a trade, and that is where the Celtics come in.
Already with pieces as Al Horford came in from the Atlanta Hawks and Isaiah Thomas coming out as an All-Star last year, the Celtics may be on their way to being relevant again.
However, there are stumbling blocks with the Westbrook, and now Sporting News is linking the Los Angeles Clippers big man to a potential switch.
The Clippers have been looking for options for Griffin as his tenure in California, while successful, has not proved to help the team be a real title contender.
Alongside Horford, the addition of Griffin in the line-up should make their front line one of the more impressive ones in the entire league.
Already heading into his seventh year, Griffin was the first pick overall in 2009 draft and was an All-Star selection in his first five years, only missing out this year due to an injury which saw him only play 35 games.
Griffin is a scoring machine, averaging over 20 points per game in all but one season in his career, and scores 21.5 per game in his whole professional career.
At 27 years old, Griffin is still yet to reach his peak as a player. He may be the one that will push the Celtics to elite status, if the Westbrook deal does not fall through.
Expect the Celtics to still be in more trade rumors in the coming days, and they are likely to make a big splash before the new campaign begins.
