Brooklyn Nets news: Nets put hope in progress
With a lot of teams looking for progression in the 2016-17 season, the Brooklyn Nets are still considered as one of the weakest teams in the league.
Last year was dreadful for the Nets as they finished 14th in the league with a 21-61 record, only behind the Philadelphia 76ers and the Los Angeles Lakers as the worst teams.
Now, the new season is about to roll in and many still do not believe that Brooklyn has any chances, starting at the very bottom of the pile.
This comes despite the fact that the Nets have acquired one of the bigger names in the summer with Jeremy Lin signing after with them after his stint with the Charlotte Hornets.
There are those who believe that Lin was brought over to find a veteran presence in the team who would stabilize the back court. Lin might do that but it may not be enough.
The Nets still have Brook Lopez in the lineup and he is still one of the best offensive centers in the league as he averaged 20.6 points per game last season. However, he may still be a liability when it comes to the defensive end.
There are so many things going against the Nets but at least it appears that they have something that keeps them going — their positivity.
Brooklyn is definitely trying to change the way things used to be in the franchise and the new coaching and management may steer things in the right direction. It may be a few years before they become relevant in the Eastern Conference but at least they are trying to turn things around.
They also know that the only way for Brooklyn to move forward is through a collaborative effort. This means that everyone from the players to the back-end should be involved in making the franchise great again.
It is going to be a long and tedious process but the Nets have accepted who they are and that will definitely help them finally get better.
