'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare' news: Activision brings in six more maps for remastered games in time for the Holidays

Activision brings in the holiday treats to "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" players with six remaining maps going live for the remastered version of the title.

The game publisher took it to their official blog site to announce a couple of goodies including the yet-to-be-available maps for the title. It can be remembered that when "Modern Warfare" was relaunched last month, only 10 remastered maps from the original title came with it. This is about to change however with a total of six new places for gamers to wander into will be rolled out today, Dec. 13. The batch includes Bloc, Countdown, Pipeline, Showdown, Strike, and Wet Work. Alongside this, the Hardpoint and Gun Game modes are also going live today. An additional Winter Crash Map will be eventually joining the fun in a couple of days' time on Dec. 20 and will run all throughout the holidays. Details on this, however, are to follow.

As a kind of overview to those who are new to "Modern Warfare," the Bloc map takes on an environment similar to a Soviet-like backdrop whereas Pipeline transports players to an abandoned rail yard in Ukraine. Countdown, on the other hand, is set on a missile launch area while Showdown sets a battle in a two-storey building in the middle of a desert. Meanwhile, Strike offers a city-feel with buildings varying in size and height and lastly, Wet Work provides an additional challenge by letting gamers play in a dark environment with two bridges in the middle for the ultimate shootout.

While the maps and free gears may be enough to interest any "Modern Warfare" player, Activision is not settling on it as this time they have lined up a plethora of other things that will be peppered throughout the season for "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" gamers.

"Starting on December 21 and running through January 1, we will be offering some extremely cool gifts every day to Infinite Warfare players who log into the game," an excerpt from Activision's announcement reads. "These freebies range from big Salvage and Key bonuses, to winter-themed personalization items, and even winter-themed Common, Rare, and Legendary prototypes! Twelve Days, twelve awesome gifts for free, just for logging into the game. Just remember to log in every day from December 21 through January 1 to get that day's bonus."
